Group Somatic Practice: The Embodied NO

Join Dr. Stephanie Draus for a Group Somatic Practice. Connect with your body, change your world.

Each workshop will focus on a specific theme. During the workshop, we will use the tools of Somatic Stress Release, along with exercises drawn from yoga and theatre, to uncover new ways of being in our bodies and in the world.

For our first group practice, we begin with the Embodied NO.

When was the last time you felt comfortable saying No?
How do you set a boundary when you cannot stand your ground?

Many of us have learned that the only answer the world will accept from us is Yes.

We know that we need to set boundaries, but how can you do that when it doesn't feel safe to say No?

In this workshop, we will practice feeling NO in our bodies, saying it to each other, and shouting it to the world.

This is the opposite of Toxic Positivity. This is the Healing Power of NO.

This practice will include:

  • Grounding and centering practices: we always start from center

  • Somatic exercises: finding and feeling our NO. The big ones and the small ones.

  • Discussion: time to listen and be heard

  • Rest practice: a return to comfort and ease

This practice is open to everyone. Movement practices will be cocreated to fit the bodies in the room. You do not need to be flexible or mobile to participate.

These practices are for folks of all genders and for people aged 15 and up.
